Bio

An avid supporter of the Edmonds School District; as a parent of 3 ESD graduates, former President/VP of Meadowdale High School’s Parent Group, & member of MHS Sports & Arts/Music boosters.  She has written 3 successful grants, one in college through the National Foundation for the Arts to bring live music to college radio in Massachusetts where she served on the board for 4 years. As the president of the North Sifton Neighborhood Association in Vancouver, WA, she wrote a successful $500,000 Community Development Block Grant, “East Orchards Safe Sidewalks.” While teaching Kindergarten she was awarded a grant to purchase books to initiate a take home book program. As president of Columbia Kids Preschool Co-op in Battle Ground, Washington, she led a successful site search for a new location. She wed Jason Redrup and moved to Edmonds in 2010, where her 3 children Jacob, Ezra and Abbie Glickman graduated from the Edmonds School District.  She has the desire to make our schools the best for kids and has the education, capabilities, leadership and energy to do the job with integrity and efficiency.

Rina has been a surgical nurse for nine years.  She was raised in Hawaii and lived in Korea for two years. She attended public and DOD schools until 7th grade.  She graduated from Punahou School in 1983, earned a Bachelors of Arts with majors in Economics and History and a minor in Early Childhood Education at Brandeis University in 1987.  She earned a Masters in Early Childhood Education and Creative Arts in Learning at Lesley University in 1990. She taught Kindergarten and First grade in public schools for 10 years in Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington and stayed home to raise her 3 children. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU)in 2010 while working as a Research Assistant in an Autism study at OHSU. As a women with native Hawaiian roots, Rina seeks to empathize with the intersectionality of marginalized groups.
